He'd already tried three different ones. Nothing was working. His copious CD collection seemed just as unappealing. He could put his mp3 player on shuffle and not have to try to choose anything, but he didn't think that would distract him at all.

Without concious thought, his fingers lifted his cellphone from the nightstand by his bed. A wistful smile crossed his face as he skimmed through old text messages. He'd saved all of them, as sappy as that was. It was all he had.

It had only been a couple months since he'd left, but it seemed like forever. Would things ever be normal again? Would they be coming back?

Would he ever see him again?

He closed his eyes as he came to the last message. The end. No more. No more shy flirty comments, innocent inuendos. No more "I <3 u"s.

His fingers moved, opening a new message. He shouldn't--contact was dangerous. They were hiding. But he had to. He really did.

From FILMSBYZACH
Hey baby. I miss u.

Name three things that you're looking forward to in the near future and why.

1. Graduating high school. Seriously, it can only get better after this. Once I'm out, none of these idiots will matter--not that they matter now. But once I'm free, I won't have to even think about them any more.

2. Well, uh, there's this guy I'm kinda seeing, and I'm hoping it'll, you know, work out well. He's pretty amazing. And really, really cute. So, yeah, I've got hopes there. Big hopes. I think it's gonna be great. He's wonderful, and, well... I'm really happy with him.

3. Graduation again, but more specific. I should get enough money in graduation presents to buy myself a really good video camera. This one's out of date and not good for much more than family videos. If I want to direct I need something better. I'm keeping my sights low; I mean, I won't be able to afford anything really professional, but I can get a decent one, and a tripod so I won't have to hold it. Shaky is so amateur. I want my films to look good.

Zach
Heroes

Looking back, at least, he could see that it was a mistake to get involved in the first place. But his self esteem had plummeted, and there was this hot guy who wanted to make it all better...

He'd been hurt and angry. But when he was with Tony, he could forget about Alex, about how used he felt. He was with someone who actually wanted to be with him.

It was good for a while. As long as he didn't think about it, he had a lot of fun. Fun was good, right? Meant he was happy.

But soon it started being less fun. He began to realize that Tony was, well, a bit of a jerk. Make that a lot of a jerk. He had a sarcastic streak, and while that wasn't bad in itself, he seemed to enjoy using it to hurt people.

Including Zach.

He was vicious. He'd kept it down until he had his claws firmly hooked in Zach, but then he let loose. Everything Zach did was wrong in some way, stupid or useless or just plain wrong. He wanted out, but Tony was good. Who else would want someone like Zach, right? Yeah, baby, I see you checking that guy out. He'd never go for you. Wanna see? I dare you. Go ask for his number.

Even being single had to be better than that. And it was. He'd finally told Tony to take his attitude and shove it. He'd felt better ever since.

Gary was probably his "best friend," as the saying went. More often than not they had lunch together, and occasionally hung out after school.

And on rare occasions, when it got too bad at home, Gary's folks would let him crash on the couch. If he didn't abuse the privelege. If he only used it when he really, really needed it.

Like tonight, when Brandon had been drinking and shouting at Mom, and Mom had started shouting right back. He'd called Gary, begged to come over for the night, and moments later had climbed out the window with spare clothes for tomorrow shoved in his backpack with his school stuff.

Now he was curled up on the couch, unable to sleep even though it was nearing one--but at least it was quiet. That's all he needed. He'd go home after school and find out what the damage had been, whether they'd stopped at the yelling or had progressed to throwing things or worse. But until then, he'd just close his eyes and relax as best he could.

Zach
Heroes

This means that: You like relatively no frills simple sex, that is basic rather than kinky. You're quite happy in bed without the need for any fetishes to spice things up, you're electric enough on your own. Who needs more than your naked body? Why put you in a Nurses outfit when they can see you in nothing? You might try the odd fantasy out, but overall you like sex at it's most raw, impulsive, and animalistic, rather than planned and turned into a complicated act. You can be a little shy in bed, so maybe this means that you'd prefer to have sex in the dark, or maybe just that you have all sorts of naughty ideas bubbling under the surface but can't quite work up the confidence to speak about most of them. Sometimes it takes you a while to speak up about what you like, and you aren't very confident in your talents but I bet your lovers would say otherwise, I'm sure your sweet nature is far more welcome than egotistical boasting. You tend to be dominant in bed, so you prefer to be the one giving the orders than taking them. Maybe you like the power, or just like controlling the pace, perhaps your partner likes to be dominanted, or maybe you get a kick out of the whole master/slave relationship, it could be something as small as liking to be on top during sex and tie up your lover to tease them, or it could be as kinky as them having to ask your permission to do anything at all. Either way, you are firm and you enjoy it! You prefer to give than recieve. This makes you a very unselfish lover, devoted to the needs of your partner rather than your own. You get your pleasure from seeing them get theirs, you are a model sex partner. I'm sure plenty of people would love to have someone like you in bed with them! Remember though that if your partner gets pleasure from returning the favour it's okay to let them, they might love giving as much as you do! WE SUGGEST YOU TRY: Reading or writing erotic fiction. If you are a little shy writing your partner a sexy email or letter, or getting a saucy text from them can really heat things up, and reading erotic fiction will give you some ideas if you usually go with very simple, basic sex! If you see something there that you like, you can always tell your partner to act it out with you.

Link: The What's your sexual style?
A list of movies you can watch over and over.

Ok, you seriously can't be asking me this. I could be listing for days, here. My lists per genre would be huge.

I'm going to try to list, like, my top ten of all time, but I can't gaurantee that I'll stop.

1. Harvey Great story, characters, everything. I love it.

2. Shaun of the Dead Good effects, funny without being stupid, parodizes without being insulting. All around excellence.

3. Casablanca What can I say?

4. Heavenly Creatures Peter Jackson did an amazing job with this concept.

5. Love Actually The interlocking storylines were handled so well.

6. Silence of the Lambs Seriously creepy without being over the top.

7. The Interview It's amazing how well they handled this. The whole movie takes place in one room, and right up until the end you're still not sure whether the guy is guilty or not. Incredible script, casting...

8. Secretary Just incredible.

9. Lola Rennt (Run, Lola, Run) Fast paced, exciting... in German, but yeah.

10. Edward Scissorhands And, actually, pretty much anything by Tim Burton.

And I'm stopping there. I really am.

Theatrical Muse: #218 Lies

Write about a lie your parents told you.

His mother started with the simple ones, just to soften him up. Santa Claus. The Tooth Fairy. That sort of thing. Then she notched it up a bit. "You're gonna love school, sweetie. You'll make lots of friends."

It progressed from there, passing from "God's looking after you," to "Zach, honey, your father still loves you, and you'll get to see him sometimes even though he's going away." That particular one had been ten years ago, and in that time his contact had been a grand total of two birthday cards, late, each with a ten dollar bill. The majority of the time he didn't even pay the child support he was required to.

After that, the lies stopped for the most part, but so did most of the conversation. Life was, more or less, coexistence.

Then there came the big one, about a year ago. "We're going to go live with Brandon now. And we'll be like a family. Won't that be nice?"

Even then he knew that his mom's boyfriend didn't like him much. He didn't expect it to get better, and amazingly, he was right.

Zach
Heroes

He seems to be involved in some sort of play behavior, though whether for amusement or for some sort of mating right is yet to be determined.

“They’re a clever species. Note how they’ve fashioned a ball out of some sort of hide. The game seems to be played by kicking the ball from one to the other, and eventually to the netting at the edge of the field.” He did a wide sweep of the soccer field, taking in both teams. “They’re marked in different colors, perhaps tribal differences. There seems to be a marked rivalry between the two groups, however, for they are reluctant to let the ball fall to the others.

“Note the prowess of the young Bennet. See how he sprints quickly across the grass, deftly passing all obstacles presented by the warring tribe. He seems a prime specimen. He should have no difficulty winning a mate from this display, if that is the intent.”

He slowly panned over Lyle’s body as he jogged back towards the sideline. “Observe the sleek, smooth definition of his musculature. Yes, he is definitely amongst the best of his generation. ” He lowered the camera as Lyle looked up and waved at him, grinning and waving in return. “Perhaps when they’ve ceased playing, we will be able to observe the young Bennet hunting for food. I think he favors a pizza place nearby.”

He had the whole “tall, dark, and handsome” cliché going on nicely. And he was charismatic. Magnetic. I couldn’t look away.

He said I was irresistible.

I was fifteen. What I heard was “I love you.” I thought he loved me as much as I loved him… though that was probably true. What I really thought was that he loved me as much as I thought I loved him, which was a lot. I mean, I was fifteen. What was I supposed to think?

He was a senior. His smile was beautiful, and his hands were soft. I was blinded by that smile, and every touch made my heart race. So when the smile grew predatory, I didn’t notice. When the hands got more insistent, I didn’t pull away.

The next morning I awoke alone, aching, confused. He didn’t answer his phone when I called. I couldn’t find him anywhere at school that day, or the next, or the next… The few times I spotted him, he ducked away before I could get to him. And he still didn’t answer when I called.

I’m not stupid. It didn’t take long for me to figure it out. And even then, I knew it wouldn’t be the first time my heart would be broken.

But, fuck, did it hurt.

He makes his own way, but he's kind and benevolent. He believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. He hates it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. He follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society. Chaotic good is the best alignment you can be because it combines a good heart with a free spirit. However, chaotic good can be a dangerous alignment because it disrupts the order of society and punishes those who do well for themselves.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Primary Class:
Bards often serve as negotiators, messengers, scouts, and spies. They love to accompany heroes (and villains) to witness heroic (or villainous) deeds firsthand, since a bard who can tell a story from personal experience earns renown among his fellows. A bard casts arcane spells without any advance preparation, much like a sorcerer. Bards also share some specialized skills with rogues, and their knowledge of item lore is nearly unmatched. A high Charisma score allows a bard to cast high-level spells.

Secondary Class:
Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

Find out What Kind of Dungeons and Dragons Character Would You Be?, courtesy of Easydamus (e-mail)
